Alternate Route through Yellowstone Park

West Yellowstone and the West entrance offers the shortest distance to Old Faithful and West Thumb and no impact on routes to Fishing Bridge or the South Entrance. If driving south from Mammoth or Tower and coming to West Yellowstone, just go to Canyon, south to Fishing Bridge and West Thumb, and then north through Old Faithful to Madison Junction, then just west to West Yellowstone. Watch for wildlife photo opportunities along the Madison River including elk with calves, bison, deer, foxes, coyotes, eagles and herons.
